The NextScene Kids & Youth Film Festival is a vibrant, welcoming space that brings together a wide youth spectrum, from children and teenagers to young adults (ages 6–22) to discover the magic of visual storytelling. We celebrate curiosity and the unique ways young eyes see the world. Through age-appropriate film screenings, hands-on workshops, and open community discussions, we help families, educators, and young creators connect, play, and create together. We believe every young person has an imaginative perspective worth sharing. Our mission is to provide an accessible, safe, and collaborative space where youth can build their creative confidence, sharpen technical media skills, and see their ideas come alive on screen. Everything we shape is designed to support, protect, and amplify the voices of tomorrow’s creative community. Each festival season invites us to look at our daily lives a little closer through a dedicated curatorial theme. We champion curiosity and the courage to explore, reminding young participants that the creative journey of experimenting and playing is just as valuable as the final screening. Current Spotlight: Meet Nexa the Crocodile and Nexi the swift Kancil (mouse-deer)! Nexa loves settling in to listen closely to bold new ideas and quiet voices, while Nexi is always on the move, chasing high-energy adventures and playful tales. Together, our friendly festival guides are always here to help families navigate all of our screenings, workshops, and plazas across Jakarta. NextScene is made possible through the dedication of our parent foundation and a vibrant network of creative collectives. Together, we build sustainable, educational pathways for youth. Operating as our legal foundation, Yayasan Mula Tumbuh Cerita ensures the sustainability of our arts management, non-formal education, and youth capacity-building programs.
