Code of Conduct

Version 1.1 – Effective July 2026
Review the NextScene code of conduct. This guide applies to all staff, volunteers, participants, and visitors across our festival spaces at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) and CGV fX Sudirman.

1. OUR COMMUNITY VALUES

NextScene is a creative, friendly, and open space designed for a wide youth spectrum, from children and teenagers to young adults (ages 6 to 22) to experience the joy of cinema. We believe in running a festival rooted in mutual respect, safety, and kindness. Whether you are a director, a volunteer, a parent, or a young viewer, you are part of keeping this environment warm and welcoming.

2. SIMPLE GUIDELINES FOR EVERYONE

To ensure everyone enjoys their time safely, we follow a few simple behavioral principles:

  • Visible & Open Interactions: All workshops, film discussions, and activities should happen in open, public view. Staff and volunteers should avoid taking children into isolated rooms alone.
  • Family-Friendly Communication: Always use encouraging, respectful, and age-appropriate language. Loud, aggressive, or intimidating behavior is not welcome.
  • Respecting Privacy: To keep our young participants safe, staff and volunteers do not exchange private personal phone numbers or private social media handles with attendees under 18.
  • Healthy Spaces: NextScene is a youth-focused event. The possession or consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances is strictly prohibited in all festival zones.
3. PHOTOS & MEDIA SENSITIVITY

We love capturing the smiles, energy, and excitement of the festival!

  • Official festival photographers will always be identifiable.
  • If you are taking close-up photos or video portraits of individual children, please check with their parents or accompanying guardians first as a matter of simple courtesy.
  • Recording full films inside the cinema rooms is strictly prohibited to protect our filmmakers’ creative work.
4. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HARASSMENT

We maintain a strict zero-tolerance approach to any form of safety endangerment, sexual misconduct, bullying, or grooming behavior. Any action, joke, or comment that makes a participant—especially a minor—feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or compromised will result in immediate removal from the festival grounds.

5. SOP: HOW WE HANDLE DISRUPTIONS & ISSUES

For our small organizing team and volunteers, use this clear 3-step standard operating procedure if an issue arises on-site:

  • Step 1: The Friendly Reminder. For minor misunderstandings or noisy behavior, approach the person kindly and offer a gentle verbal reminder about our community environment.
  • Step 2: Stepping Out. If a visitor or participant continues to cause discomfort, be disruptive, or ignore guidelines, ask them firmly but politely to step out of the cinema hall or activity room.
  • Step 3: Team Escalation. For any serious safety concerns, harassment, or unsafe behavior, immediately notify the main Info Booth. The Festival Coordinator will handle the situation, revoke event entry, and involve building security or authorities if necessary.
6. TALK TO US: HOW TO REPORT A CONCERN

If you feel uncomfortable, witness something out of place, or just need someone to talk to, we are here to support you completely:

  • In Person: Walk up to any team member at our main Info Booths located at TIM or CGV fX Sudirman.
  • Via Email: Drop us a message at nextscenefestival.id@gmail.com. All conversations will be treated with absolute privacy, care, and discretion.

Thank you for helping us make NextScene a wonderful, inspiring, and safe memory for the next generation of movie lovers!
