PlayScene NextScene 2026 is the only program in the festival where nobody is sitting in a theater seat. Rated for All Ages, this dedicated hands-on workshop space encourages children and families to actively participate in the creative process rather than passively watching a screen.
Moving away from traditional film screenings, PlayScene focuses entirely on material exploration, imagination, and tactile learning.

About the PlayScene Program
The room is intentionally capped at 15 seats per session. This limitation ensures that every activity remains genuinely hands-on, preventing the space from turning into just another crowded room where an audience watches an instructor from the back.
For the PlayScene NextScene 2026 edition, each session is co-facilitated alongside a rotating roster of external community partners, including organizations such as Ruru Kids, Kok Bisa, and Greenpeace. Rather than operating like a traditional classroom with rigid instructions, these workshops are built around raw materials and open-ended prompts.
The primary goal is to foster an environment where young participants feel completely free to experiment and make mistakes. There is no single “right answer” or expected outcome at the end of the session only the process of creating, collaborating, and translating abstract ideas into physical forms. By prioritizing creative freedom, PlayScene adds a vital, interactive dimension to the festival experience in Jakarta.
